Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences (SRIBS), founded in 1958, is a comprehensive science and technology type enterprise in Shanghai construction trade committing itself to make research and development and offer technical service. Staff of the institute totals 530, of which 372 are middle- or senior- ranked technical personnel. Comprised of 6 research divisions and 5 professional companies, the institute integrates technological specialization with research and education. SRIBS persists in serving economic construction, serving urban construction management and operation, serving major projects. In the past decade, SRIBS has accomplished 254 research programs, obtained 91 significant research achievements and set up 8 ministers-and city- grade school subjects research centres.
In recent years, in order to emphasis on sustainable development and improves building performance, comfort and productivity (efficiency and comfort), SRIBS, Focus on the international developing trend of Eco-building, research, develops and spreads high-tech for Eco-building, has been built two sustainable building and provides important technologies about building energy consumption, intelligent building, building environment, HVAC, and affords consultant, test, and assessment reconstruction service for system integration technology about new and existing building in Shanghai, even national or international.
Prof. XU QIANG
Prof. XU has been engaged in the technical research on the concrete engineering after entering Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences (SRIBS). He has been responsible for over 10 ministry or municipal projects and had won 1 second prize, 1 third prize of Shanghai Science Technology Progress Awards, 1 third prize of Science and Technology Achievement Awards of Ministry of Construction and published over 20 papers. He has been sponsored by Shanghai Rising-Star Program; he is one of leaders in their chosen field of learning and member of Chinese Ceramic Society.
