REHVA is a 40 years old organisation connecting European professionals in the area of building engineering services (heating, ventilating and air-conditioning for energy efficient healthy buildings). REHVA represents more than 100 000 engineers from 30 European countries. REHVA´s main activity is to develop and disseminate economical, energy efficient and healthy technology for mechanical services of buildings. REHVA is working in several areas in serving its members.
One of these areas deals with the REHVA Guidelines. The objectives of this work are to:
Several task forces are currently working to publish REHVA guidelines. Several of them are related to efficient use of energy.
An important activity of REHVA is the CLIMA 2000 International Congress series every 3 years now. At the last conference which took place in Naples, Italy in 2001, more than 500 technical and scientific papers were presented and more than 10 workshops organised, with an attendance of over 800 people. The last international congress was in held in Helsinki, Finland from June 10-14, 2007.
One of REHVA´s tasks is to disseminate technical information in Europe. The official language of REHVA is English. As practicing engineers do not use English in their work the REHVA guidebooks are translated to national languages by the national experts. The Guidebook for Displacement Ventilation, for example, has been translated into nine languages, more than 10,000 copies have been distributed until now.
REHVA has two important publications for its members. The older one is technical REHVA journal which is published quarterly. It informs the member about the activities in the organisation, and also publishes technical articles in the interest area of members.
REHVA’s network and resources will be an ideal platform for the dissemination of the PHDC system in the industry.
